THE

SOIL

In a high position in the landscape,

these gravel and gravel terroirs are laid out on a narrow north-south ridge, called Villafranchienne.

They correspond to fragments of very old river terraces from the beginning of the Quaternary, which have now disappeared. Heaps of rolled pebbles, carried with each gigantic flood during the ice ages, accumulated at the edge of these rivers.

Soils of old gravel and gravel, dry and poor, these soils contain precious natural elements favorable to the production of fine wines.

Their lithological nature and the mineral composition of the deep soil solutions are expressed through the vines, in the wines, by spicy aromas: black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, cade ...
